Does the amount of oxygen a flame gets, affect its burn time?

My hypothesis: I think that the flame will last longer with more oxygen because oxygen is basically an energy source.

What I noticed was that the flame worked in wider cups. My hypothesis was correct because the more amount of air, the longer the flame took to stop.
