A day at Aukland live

A day at Aukland live

On September the 19th, we were going on a trip to Bruce Mason's Centre to attend 'a day at Aukland live'. When we got there, we were sorted into our groups. I was put into Jess's tag list for today because my tag group (Amy's) was too big.

First, we went into a big room with lots of chairs and a stage. I volunteered to be an actor. Then I chose to be an animal and I chose a lion (the other choice was a monkey). We then did a practise. If we heard 'stage left' we would go to the left of the stage. If we heard 'stage right' we go to the right. If we heard 'stage down' we would have to go to the front of the stage, and so on. Now the real performance. We got some props (lion mask for me) and walked onto the stage. There were some LC7 kids heading into the seats. Rhiannon was Sophie, the child who was kidnapped in the play. Xanthe, LJ and some other people were witches. Anesu was also a lion. There were other people, I just can't remember them. Rhiannon (a.k.a. Sophie) was put into a giant box and she said: "Let me out, let me out!" Some people crept towards the witches and their familiars (a familiar is an animal that is a witch or wizard's companion), but they didn't see the 'children', in fact they were in a huddle. The children were almost to Sophie when one of the witches spotted them, and said: "we have a plan for you, children." and then pointed the wand and BANG!! The 'children' froze on the spot and the witches cackled.

Secondly we went to some other people. This time THEY were doing a performance. So it was some-one's birthday. There was a girl that was told NOT TO EAT THE COOKIE and to guard it instead and they did some bubbly sound effects to make a grumbling tummy. She told us (probably lied, actually) that she had never eaten in her life and she never gets what she wants, but it was a voice they recorded, I think right at that time because it was 'live'. In the end she ate the cookie. Afterwards we went into a room where there were lots of headphones with phones or maybe they were ipods. The other group put the headphones on and pressed play. They looked really nervous and then they fell down twice. It was my group's turn after them. I put on the headphones and pressed play when they wanted to. Instantly this guy started talking. He said I had to do some normal things, and that there was Attenburrow castle and Sun hall. Then he said to do some shocked reactions because there was a a U.F.O. crashing over Sun hall. I slid down the wall, gaping.

Finally, after lunch we came into a huge room with these weird sphere / balloon things that widen up at the bottom, a two-wheeled robot, a set of red stage curtains and some wooden discs with a cross on the bottom. A lady with short red hair walked towards us. She said that before we begin, we must watch their performance. She pushed a stool with a heap of black things (I had no idea what at that time) out from behind the stage curtains. Then she put on some strange music. The heap turned into two humans and they danced. Afterwards the lady said to follow the leader. She spit us into groups and we followed lots of people, which ended up being hilarious! Then we balanced on the balloon things, balanced on the wooden discs and we were done.
