How people and animals have impacted the Kawakawa plant.

This is what I learnt about the Kawkawa plant. I was also learning non-fiction writing an explanation about Kawakawa:

How people and animals have impacted the Kawakawa plant.
Kawakawa plants are used for many ways of healing. They are popular for anti-burn and have other properties, too. It is found in the bush and it’s leaves are the part that heals. It is sometimes put in tea and lip balm.

Kawakawa plants are used by the Maori for healing. For example, it can heal boils, wounds, tummy aches, cuts, tooth aches, chest pains and bad bruises. It has anti - inflammatory properties which make it really good as a use of medicine. This made it sacred to the Maori people.

Kawakawa berries are yellow. They resemble corn cobs from their colour and shape. Kawakawa plants grow some yellow spikes in the year that turns into the berry clusters. When the berries are ripe, Kereru ( NZ wood pigeon) and Tuis come to feed on them. This means not just humans eat them!

Unfortunately, Kawakawa plants are in danger! The Maori burned down some of the Kawakawa plant’s forest to make room for their home. Also there are not many people who grow or care for Kawakawa plants. That would really help. Kawakawa plants could become endangered!

Kawakawa plants are used a lot. We need to help them!
